O Scale Model Trains
O Scale Model Trains was introduced to the market in the early years of 1900s. Märklin, a German company introduced this type of model train which is seen as revolutionary during that time. The letter "O" actually refers to the number zero (0) to emphasize its size when compared to 1 gauge type of rail. When the O Scale was released, the smallest scale during those years was trains that could fit in 1 gauge rails. The 1 gauge rails are measured 45mm between tracks and this type of track, along with the model trains that could fit in the track were though to be the smallest. O Scale model trains are a lot smaller as the tracks (0 gauge) were measured 32mm or 1 ¼ inch apart.
The O Scale Model Trains is one of the most sought after type of train by hobbyists worldwide, particularly the pre-WWII type of train. Although much more expensive, the O scale model trains that were built during those years were known to be highly durable and easy to work with. The reason for this is that when the O scale was released, it was aimed for kids and young adolescents so that they will never have a hard time assembling these toys. Eventually, the O scale model trains that were made during those years become collectibles.
